Main bearings
Does anyone know why there are so many different crankshaft bearings offered for Lycoming engines? The rebuild manual I have lists 3 different parts numbers for my crankshaft bearings.
18D19394 LW-16047 (alternate) LW-11021 (alternate) It seems like Lycoming is saying that you can just use whatever you want, or is there a preference to a part number? I noticed superior also says that you can use part number SL11020 Can anyone help me figure out if there is some reasoning to this? Thanks, Bryan |
Superseded numbers or may be oversized part numbers.

LW-16047 is superseded by LW-11021
http://nebula.wsimg.com/670c250fc9d9...&alloworigin=1 The 18D19394 is superseded by 18D26096 https://www.lycoming.com/sites/defau...12-Sup%201.pdf Oversize bearing have a dash number added with the oversize amount. If your part catalog calls out the earlier number then either that number or the superseded number can be used. |
