Main bearings

Does anyone know why there are so many different crankshaft bearings offered for Lycoming engines? The rebuild manual I have lists 3 different parts numbers for my crankshaft bearings.

18D19394
LW-16047 (alternate)
LW-11021 (alternate)

It seems like Lycoming is saying that you can just use whatever you want, or is there a preference to a part number? I noticed superior also says that you can use part number

SL11020

Can anyone help me figure out if there is some reasoning to this?

Thanks,

Bryan

Superseded numbers or may be oversized part numbers.

LW-16047 is superseded by LW-11021

The 18D19394 is superseded by 18D26096

Oversize bearing have a dash number added with the oversize amount.

If your part catalog calls out the earlier number then either that number or the superseded number can be used.
