ACS Military Discount Program

For the service men and women who may lurk on the site, I stumbled onto ACS?s military discount program.

https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catal...rydiscount.php

?We are proud to announce our new military discount program in order to honor those who have served our country. Past and present servicemen can now send us their military ID and have their account coded for military discounts. Discount percentage will vary by item and can range from 1% to 10%. The discount percentage will be offered on our daily retail prices. MRP items, such as Bose headsets and Garmin Portable GPS, are excluded from the discount promotion. To qualify for the military discount, the customer must be active or retired US Marine Corps, Army, Navy, Air Force, National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, or Coast Guard.?

Hope this helps somebody. Happy New Year!

Be carful how you do this.

The photocopying of U.S. Government identification cards is a violation of Title 18, U.S. Code Part I, Chapter 33, Section 701 and punishable by fine and imprisonment.

I applied. Says I’ll be contacted in 48 hrs. I’ll report back the process when complete.

Yeah "send us your military ID" (photocopied or scanned obviously) is a foul. I get that they are trying to verify eligibility, but their good intentions are fraught with ignorance on their part and danger on your part. You cant do this......

I have looked at the title 18 code, and yes it states it is illegal. I do believe the intent is for those who possess such articles with the intent of harm. I am not endorsing the practice or say it is correct to do it. I have been using the Aircraft Spruce discount for a bit now, but not telling how they figured out I was legitimate. I appreciate them providing the discount.

There is a picture of an ID on http://www.cac.mil/Common-Access-Card/
Over the years I have seen warnings not to send out copies of your ID.

Lowes offers a military/veteran discount as well. You register online and they have a way of verifying eligibility. There must be a database these companies can access to see if you have actually served.

Most companies that give a Veteran Discount will accept a driver's license or handgun license that has the "Veteran" confirmation on it. Others want to see a copy of your DD-214.
