Drilling 7/8" hole in UHMW
Next up is making said holes in F-8115 thrust washers.
What method gives the nicest holes? A carpenter's hole saw may not be accurate or pretty. Couldn't find any reference to this. |

Thanks Larry. Don't have a HF here but will look at mail order.
Will also try out a step drill bit on some scrap |
Home Despot flat whiz bit would work. Make sure the piece is securely anchored else it will tour the shop !

Depending on the thickness of the part, a hole saw might work pretty well. You know, one of those things that looks like a cylinder with teeth at the end.

I've found spade bits do a beautiful job on UHMW. Just feed it slowly.

Thanks guys, I'll test out a spade bit first. Path of least resistance etc.

Where?
where do these thrust washers go? I don't remember making these.

They are applicable to the ground adjustable rudder pedals. I don't know about the other style pedals.
They fit on either end of the shaft that the pedals hinge on. It's a strange use of the term as there is no lateral force. BTW the spade bit worked out great. Quick, easy and I didn't have to buy anything. |
