Wing upper skin(s) trailing edge turned up at rear spar
I believe that I have seen a post or two on this issue previously.
I have riveted the the upper skins on recently and see that the skins trailing edge at the rear spar is turned up some amount. I am wondering if all builders are running into this issue and are dealing with it by making a slotted bending block and bending the skin/rear spar flange combination back down flush. Thanks for any input. Ian |
The infamous "ski-jump".
Vans has a tool you can borrow to fix this. Works well. |
I see that "Ski Jump" is the key search phrase for this issue.
Thanks. |
here's the Van's tool and a before and after. Use scraps of aluminum to protect the skin (like in the second picture), rear spar rivets, and spar flange or you'll gouge them when you do the bend.

I borrowed one from Mike Cencula here on VAF -- it worked great!
