Main gear axle thread size
 

I've managed to damage the threads of one of my main gear axles on my RV-10. I need to get a die to clean up the threads a bit. What die size do I need to use? What are the thread specifications?

I'm going to call Van's in the morning, but I thought I would post here in the hopes that somebody may know.

May be able to repair it with a thread file, less expensive than a die.

RV3 has 1.250 diameter with 16 threads per inch...

The RV-10 is 1.5 inch, but I don't know the thread size. My tap,set was at home today. If I can't get the info from Vans tomorrow, I'll attempt to use some taps to determine the thread size and count.

Well I learned something new tonight. I never knew these existed.

Same. If you go that route will be interested on how well it works.

Due to the eclipse, I couldn't get through to Van's support and nor did they return my email. I did get a thread gauge and measured it myself. It's 1.5" and 16 tpi.
