Inaugural flight

N214SW took it's first flight today! I got my AC on Friday and this morning was the first chance to get it airborne. Flew great, jumped off the runway and somehow the plane greased the landing. I will be working on the video to post to my website, although it's not nearly as professional as Mitch's was. Everything worked as billed, the plane flew hands off at 4,000' in trim. I was not getting a reading for Fuel Flow, but overall that was the only issue. Weather was overcast except for a couple of holes, but at 3,000 it was clear blue sky. I did some slow flight, turns, stalls, then popped down through another hole to set up for landing. What a thrill after 2 ? years! Thank you's will come on the writeup. Been waiting to do the RV grin.

Well done Stoney. Now you need to update your VAF signature block

---(one day later...)---

That looks better. Now, knock out that Phase I.

Now that's some awesome news! I bet that is a big relief after all that time! Glad it went well. Did you notice any engine cooling issues or anything during your flight? I'm a little curious how it will be, due to the fairly small exit area...unless the tunnel ends up adding a lot of airflow.
I'll be a few weeks yet, especially since I'll hopefully stop and paint it first, but hoping for June.

Congrats on the first flight, I'll also be a while yet. Still waiting on Van's to finish things up in order to finish up. Waiting for more details.

Stoney

Congratulations! It must feel wonderful. Be safe as you explore the flight envelope.

Thanks for being on the pointy end of the sword, blazing the trail on the RV-14/14a. All of us builders, a few months behind you, are benefiting greatly by your reports and observations. Keep em coming!
