How about Cleveland ports, they are very similar in shape to the pop rivet from VANS and has had great reports.

I already have the safeair ones and some extra pop rivets, so figured I would play with that first, since it only requires a #30 hole. If that doesn't work, then I can drill and go to the half inch required by cleveland, but I thought I'd start with what I have.

Sounds like a good plan. My only hesitation with the use of pop rivet is the way the plumbing of it works. In my experience, it was a tight fitting but after a couple of years or more, it started a small leak. So, for an IFR certification, this may end up with additional maintenance in a place that is not that easy to reach.
