Need a mentor in Ann Arbor
Is there anyone in the Ann Arbor / Plymouth area who would like to mentor my early 20's nephew who has just expressed an interest in getting his PPL?
|
Bill, I can't speak for whether or not he would agree to mentor your nephew, but you might shoot terrykohler a PM and ask him. He's an instructor and a -9A builder based at Pontiac.

Canton- 1D2, has **** as of now they had some management issues, so unless you have your own plane not much to rent. Solo Aviation does have a plane or two there just no on-site presence.
AA - ARB Your best bet would be Solo Aviation http://www.soloaviation.aero/ He can get involved in EAA Chapt 113 at 1D2 very active club and very friendly. They have yearly scholarships and have mentored many 16-20's http://www.eaa113.org/ Clubs MANG Aero at YIP Yipislianti M Michigan Flyers at ARB http://www.michiganflyers.org/ Eastern Michigan University at YIP -Yipislianti (Get College Credit) http://www.emich.edu/aviation/ Pontiac is a good 1 hr drive from Ann Arbor and :40 from Plymouth |
Thanks for the help.
I got my PPL at 1D2 in the 80's and one of my roommates from WMU keeps his newly restored 120 there. Bummer to hear they don't have a flight school any more. I'll suggest he join 113. |
A very good contact at Chap 113 is John Maxfield.
