New Eggenfellner Redrive
Eggenfellner released photos of their new 3rd gen redrive prototype a few days ago. It is due to be installed to start flight testing soon. http://www.eggenfellneraircraft.com/News.htm

looks beefy, but not enough detail in the photos------------obviously another part or two not shown, what drives the gear on the left, (rear side pic), and what is behhind the big snap ring inside the case??
Looks like maybe a pressure oil port in the front side pic---good idea. More info would be nice. Mike |

I believe the dimensions are the same. The gears have been rearranged to provide approximately 2.0 ratio, a way to get more HP out of the engine and not send the prop tips through Mach one. :) dd |

Those gears are considerably bigger than the original redrive. Bill Jepson |
Hydraulic CS... please???

There appear to be several potential problem areas in the case design based on the photographs. These would be easily addressed with fillets and gussets, but it would be premature to comment without knowing the design specifications or load parameters. This may be a prototype rather than a final production unit. Gears look plenty stout. Curious about the small spur gear on rear of output shaft Not shown in the pictures: What type of dampener/isolator does Eggenfellner utilize? |
Eggenfeller Redrive
The big driver for the new PSRU is higher gear ratio (2.01 vs. 1.86) to get more HP. Dampener: dual mass flywheel.
