End of year video awards

One of the things I love about VAF is logging in and getting to go along for a flight via a video that was posted here. Back when I was building, it was a source of major motivation for me. Now that I am flying, I look at a great video posting as inspiration for something to add to my flying bucket list. Oh... I have to plan a flight to go do that....

With that in mind, it seems to me that maybe I missed one or two great flight video's this year. If you saw a great video this year, re-post it here and maybe we can all enjoy it one more time...

As for the awards..., maybe it should just be recognition for an awesome video in a particular category.

Here is my vote for the "Awesome Scenic Video".

I am sure we can come up with some other ideas...

Awesome Formation Flying
Awesome Aerobatics
Awesome Family Trip/Vacation
Awesome ...????

I nominate John Thocker's video of taking his daughter flying...makes me smile each time I watch it! I think it's called Haleybatics

Brantel 12-16-2013 11:02 AM

Yep that is a great one!

Haley-batics 2

Here is the link to "Haley-batics 2" mentioned above.

Wow! This is an awesome video. I challenge anyone to watch this and not have a smile on their face. Seeing the joy on Jon and Haley's face is great fun. I had not seen this one before. Thanks for posting. Exactly why I started the thread.

How about categories of videos?

Peter,

There are a couple of videos I've watched more than I'd care to admit. One of the two videos I'm going to nominate is in the motivational category and the other is in the educational category but I think there could be more categories...

The motivational video is -

http://www.iwantarocket.com/rv6/Iqaluit_355kps.wmv

Awesome scenery, well edited, and it has a story line.

The educational video is below. This is a low budget video of how to wire a Vertical Power VP-x Pro and it has probably helped me more than any other 'how to' video out there (and it's free).

Another Rush video

I would like to nominate another Steve Rush video, Olympic Peninsula North. I love the way he matched his spectacular video with one of Strauss' masterpieces.

How about first flight video

I love my first flight video as all the emotions come back whenever I watch it. The best however is my little boy who points on the screen and makes airplane noises.

I see several more postings :-)

Can't wait to get off work, sit down in front of my Big Screen TV, and pull up the video links. Should be fun!!

49 Reasons for best video 2013

Many good ones, but this one brings chills for me every time I watch it.

Good one! I hadn't see that one before. Love the second scene as they fly over the stadium and the fireworks go off below.

Best Video

Yes, 2nd video of 49 ship with stadium and fireworks is very good I agree.

Got to mention the Haley-Batics 2 is also very good as mentioned. My daughter close to same age, and look forward to taking her up someday, and hear her laugh like Haley. That one is special.

Wow

I have given a lot of rocket rides over the years and this one was kind of special, the title is Wow! The young passenger is a private pilot who had recently been accepted at RMC, The royal military college of Canada,http://www.rmc.ca/index-eng.php

The flight started and ended at my home farm strip, Fairlea Field.
Unusual attitudes were conducted 3500' and above, the aircraft has the aerobatic restriction removed, the pilot is current, and parachutes are not required in Canada. (hopefully that covers all the issues)

I'll cast my vote for Jon Thocker's video (the one with Haley). Its sunshine all the way.

Here's another one that I have watched more times than I can count. Hopefully someday I will meet these heroes and get to tell them how much I appreciate their music and flying.

+1 For the Haley-Batics video!

I was having trouble picking a video to share so I just included them all.

Jay Yau's Alaska video's

I loved Haley-batics too! But in all fairness, just like with the Oscars, I think we need categories. Aerobatics, Best Scenery, Motivational, Comedy, etc.

If you guys & gals have not watched the following, you don't know what you are missing.

For Jaw dropping, indescribable scenery, I hereby nominate....

Here a direct link to the first video in the series. I liked this one best but watch them all!
