Visiting Washington DC in June

Hi Everybody,

I have to go to Washington on business in about a month's time. I will most probably arrive on a saturday and I'm looking for a recommendation for an airfield within reach where I could hire an aircraft and instructor to do some flying on the sunday. I will have my UK licence and medical with me. If anyone can suggest an airfield with RV's as well then so much the better, it would be great to meet up. Whatever happens, I will be paying my way.

Thanks very much for any information provided.

best regards

Manassas Regional (KHEF), is a good place to start. Dulles Aviation http://www.flydai.com/ and Aviation Adventures http://www.aviationadventures.com/ can both fill your rental needs. Also my EAA Chapter, Chapter 186 http://www.186.eaachapter.org/, is there on the field as well.

Gaithersburg

I guess it really depends on where you are staying and what type of transportation you will have. KGAI, Montgomery Airpark in Gaithersburg, MD is a short ride away from the Shady Grove Metro station. It is located North of DC. There are two flight schools there, one is Light Sport, Fleming Aviation. They have three Piper Sports and a Carbon Cub.

There are 5 RV's based plus one under construction at the field. Also a good restaurant with a deck overlooking the runway.

If you decide to come here, give me a shout out and we'll meet up. I'll be happy to take you up on an aerial tour.
