I had registered my project as Air Force 1 a month or so ago, and just received in the mail an invitation from my county appraiser to come declare the value of the aircraft.
I started by telling them that it is not yet an aircraft, just pieces scattered around the country. They proceeded to tell me that they knew better, and that Air Force 1 was in fact a completed aircraft, they had even seen the President using it (and they wanted their tax dollars)! I argued that I would NEVER let the President ride in Air Force 1, she then called her supervisor over.
After some educating the tax people about how aircraft are built, registered, and used, they told me to leave, since private use aircraft are not taxed. They were joking about how they could win bets now by telling people that they had tried to tax Air Force 1..
