No flaps

Rv8 A. Flaps work on the ground whether on battery or alternator power. In the air they won’t move. Checked for obstruction behind seat and all. Nothing obvious. Any ideas?

And/Or....

...are you using Vertical Power Pro VPX and an EFIS (like SkyView)? VPX can be programmed to limit/inhibit flap actuation based on pilot-set airspeeds. The airspeed may be set too low.

Probably the old grease contamination. Strip the motor/gearbox and check for grease from the gearbox getting into the motor.

No flap positioning system or anything fancy. This RV was finished in 2004 before all the fancy stuff came out. This is a pure hit the switch, look out the window and check the position of the flaps.

I'm going to try to put resistance on the flaps while I hit the switch. Electrically nothing changes when I'm airborne

Don't fly

There is a service bulletin about safety-wiring the flap motor output shaft (screw).

Make sure it hasn't worked itself all the way out of the rod end.

(Sorry if I'm wording this wrongly.)
