3 x 5 Card Holder

the plan is to replace my taped on V-Speeds with something more elegant and it should be very light weight and hold a couple of cards for notes. I choose a 3 x 5 card size since that is common and about the same size as what I have. the nice thing about the taped on paper version is that I can swing it out to have a better look and I wanted to retain that function. I believe the loose strand velcro will work fine for this. yet to be tested. I've been working on getting the weight to the absolute minimum for this piece. I'm down to 27 grams (exceeded my goal of 30) using no internal printing support. the challenge you face with this is printing a slightly angled round hole in a vertical orientation when there is no support is the filament sags away at the top. one way I have managed to counter act this is to shape the hole as a teardrop. this part is hollow.

3 x 5 Card Holder

the fit and the velcro swing action was good. one thing I will change is to drop the card retainer sides to ease card removal. other than that I really like it. it's a keeper. I'll also make one with no holes that could be preferred for a solid writing surface.

Dynon D3 Mount - 15 deg

These can be made to custom angles. This one is 15 degree. Weight = 57 grams.

Dynon D3 Mount - 15 deg installed

Prototype installed

this should correct the visibility problem my passengers had trying to view the Dynon when mounted flat. a couple of changes are needed. one, I need to slightly adjust the plastic nut position, two, I will cut about a quarter inch off the top since it's not needed. the force to remove this from the the dura lock was about 30 lb. it's very secure and that's the way I will leave it. this dura lock it rated to 250F if you beleive that.

this one is good enough to stay onboard. I like it. that's the way it should have been from the beginning.

the velcro could have been moved more inwards to be out of sight but I was too lazy to reposition it on the panel.

Bill Duffy Slider Canopy Install Procedure

Bill is the inventor of the plastic block drill guide and slider canopy install procedure. It seems he likes this method. He said the pin holes align perfectly and he sent some pictures so I thought I would pass them along. He has built several sliders.

His words "Best fitting canopy yet, the blocks are great, pins slide in perfectly."

it's doable. this is a relatively course thread print but it turned out better than I expected. the threads would need to be polished before use.

from a couple years ago.
