Hey Steve cool stuff. I would not have thought much about a fairing on the flap bracket but it is a bad airflow shape. Good on you for experimenting.
My first thought is that proving this improvement would be tough. I wonder if a flight with only one would induce enough yaw to prove it that way rather than just speed improvements.

Steve, that aileron hinge in the foreground is just begging for the same treatment. I hope that's in development, and forgive me if I missed the memo somewhere in the thread - I just check this one occasionally to see what you 3D printer men are up to.

For a relatively paltry amount (in airplane dollars anyway) y'all can get in on this and make your own designs to suit your needs. No need to wait on someone else.

expensive fairing

I just ordered this printer as a result of this thread. Expensive rear view mirror, fuel drain fairings and flap fairings.

Ooo, that's nice.

Also, if you don't want to buy your own printer you can upload your design to shapeways. Heck even some UPS stores have 3D printers...

yes, that one made the development list.

my 15 yr old daughter wants spending money and is a business woman wannabe so I told her to she could have my designs, www.rvplasticparts.com. she made this site on her own. she has been flying with me for years and is good at adjusting the mixture just right to get us home from grandma's house in one leg when we have the winds.

Very cool!

Cool website idea

Steve,

Very cool idea. You should have your daughter also "sell" the designs for those that have printers. What an entrepreneur!

flap bracket fairing first flight test

takeoff, flaps down stall, dive to 180 ktas. post inspection looks good. not sure why but I needed to trim a little to the right after leveling. I'm taking that as a good sign. next flight is with six fairings installed. break the chains and set me free! the little striped piece of paper on the side didn't show much of anything. still working on my video quality.
