2x or 3x

I think I'm going to go with Avery's full-blown RV kit. The decision now is 2x or 3x gun. Somebody told me that the 2x was easier to control, but on planetools.com they say that the 2x gun hits a lot faster and is harder to control. They recommend the 3x for those new to rivetting.
What do you guys recomend?

Also, what is "riveting tape" for?

Holding rivets in place while you turn the part upside down to back rivet. Save your money and get Scotch Magic Tape instead - much cheaper! You can customize the Avery kit and probably should.
