MGL has released a capstan kit allowing conversion of a standard MGL servo to a capstan servo.
Development of this kit has taken some time. We wanted to get the best possible and most secure method that prevents any chance of slippage, foul ups or jamming while providing a high quality, simple to install solution.
A relatively small diameter drum provides excellent pulling strength in excess of 20KG while a secure cage prevents the cable from ever slipping out of a groove. Sacrificial shear screw is provided as with the standard servo arm installation.
The drum cable is threaded through a tunnel in mid drum location with two grub screws holding the cable securely in place. This method greatly eases installation by allowing fine adjustments of drum position vs. cable.
For standard MGL EFIS installations active control ranges for the drum are up to 170 degrees for bank and pitch servos and up to 350 degrees for the yaw servo.
