Flying into Friday Harbor? (FHR)

My wife just made reservations for a B&B right next to the Friday Harbor airport for a little 4th of july kayak trip. We'll be flying in the RV for the long weekend - anyone here on the VAF based there? If you are building, I wouldn't mind giving you some time to fly an RV.

Any tips on the island?

Hey I am not longer out in the NW but FYI AWO is a hot bed of RV activity.

Good point! I'll make that my last waypoint before turning left. Thanks.

Friday Harbor is a fun spot to fly into. I've been up there a few times, in a spam can. A trip that takes 3-12 hours by car and ferry is less than an hour by plane. Roche Harbor is also a great spot, but I haven't flown in there.

It'll be mighty busy the July 4th weekend. The tie downs might fill up.

BTW, congrats on the AVWeb picture. It's my desktop background at work now.

Kevin--Whatever you do, make sure you take an evening fly over the Sound and the other islands just as the sun is starting to get low in the sky (at that time of the year, between 7-8pm or so). What is a pretty sight during the middle of the day is fantastically beautiful with the Cascades and Olympic mountains, the Seattle skyline, and the water all lit up orange and pink.

I wish my plane were done so that I could join you. Have fun!
