RV8 forward facing sump

New to the forums. Has anyone installed an engine with a forward facing sump ( I have an XP-IO-360 with the light weight forward facing sump) direct forward through the standard Van's cowling. Most interested in how to insert a screen and also have alternate air. I do not want to use Van's snorkel, because I would like to use Sam James plenum.

I did, using an IO-360 C1D6. I orginally had the "carb" lower cowl, but wound up getting a deal on the injected engine. Rather than pay shipping both ways to Van's, as well as a restocking fee, I bought a scoop from Mark Frederick (team rocket). I dremeled the old scoop off, and grafted the Rocket scoop on.

I like it a lot, but I'm not sure it was worth the trouble.
