Panel Design Question

I am in the process of laying out my panel. This may be a goofy question but I was wondering how much of the view on the top of the panel is blocked by the glare shield on an RV-8?

I plan on being secured by the belts and don?t want to place the critical instruments too high and have to lean forward to read the gauges.

Any rules of thumb from the guys flying 8's?

I?m about 6'-5" tall so I will be setting pretty high.

Thanks for any input.

Don,

I'm only 5'9"", and that puts my head a LOT lower than yours will be, but I can see the top screws in the panel without a problem. You can also trim the Glareshield however you would like, and can also have your seat cushions cut to a height that you like.

I am 5'11" and when flying my mates RV-8 I have around 1" clearance to the canopy. Here are two shots I took in flight.
As you can see nothing much is obscured.

Pete.

Thanks

Thanks for the input guys and thanks for the pictures!

Looks like I can do whatever I need to do to make everythng fit and trim the glare shield.

Thanks again for your help.
