Rudder Control Horn Problem?

Elevator Control Horn Problem?

In my emp. kit, my elevator control horns seem to have incomplete welds. The weld goes most of the way around the ~1" tube where it meets the horn, but there is about a 3/16-4/16" gap where there is no weld. I seem to remember others saying theirs were like this earlier on some forum, but can't remember what the conclusion was. Is this how everyone's are or is this something I should have Van's replace?

My elevator horns are like this too, so I think it's normal. I bet the spar would bend before the weld broke. Did you mean your elevator horns? My rudder horn is made of aluminum angle.
