This is posted on Van's website:

The Fourth Issue of the 2005 RVator contains 2 additional images of the RV-12.

Could someone who receives the Rvator and who has a scanner please post these pics on this forum.

Thanks,
Tobin

I haven't read the whole thing yet, but just looking through it I only see one blurb on it.

Talks about why they chose the Rotax: "because it is the best understood, most readily available, and best-backed engine from an established manufacturer that fit our requirements of power, reliability, and weight."

Also mentions that the Rotax qualifies under the ASTM for the LSA category, which helps builders get LSA certification.

And that's it, unless I missed something.

Er, sorry, that's from issue five. In issue four there is a whole two pages on it, but basically:

Design Goals:
- As good or better flying qualities than the -9A
- 550lb payload
- 750lb empy weight
- low parts count, to reduce kit costs and assembly time
- systems installation at lowest possible level of structural subassembly (whatever that means)
- minimal use of composites
- maximum use of simple hand tools, possibly eliminate all pneumatic tools (!!)

Desired Performace Numbers:
- max gross takeoff weight: 1,320lbs
- max stall speed: 51mph (45kts)
- max speed in level flight with max power: 138 mph (120kts)
- two-place maximum
- single, non-turbine engine
- fixed or ground adjustable prop
- fixed gear

(basically, LSA requirements)

Other points:
- using a 100hp Rotax 912S, water/air-cooled engine
- prop choice is hollow-blade composite rom Sensenich
- easily removable wings
- trailerable width
- steerable nosewheel
- seats forward of main spar
- full span flaperons
- stabilator

Notes this is a proof-of-concept plane, not a production prototype.

The two computer drawings of it makes it look like a shorter/smaller RV-9A.

That's probably more what you are looking for, hope that helps!

(Now when will we get a steerable nosewheel on the -7?!)
