180hp io360 in a -3b?

vans has the 3 listed for i think 125-150hp

i was just curious if the 360 has been used?

since the -3 slightly out performs the -4, it would pretty much spank it with 180+ hp 360

There have been a couple "rocketized" -3s using a 200hp I360 (take a look http://www.romeolima.com/RV3hq/History/history.htm), but I think if you would like the extra 'spank' without too many mods or w&b issues check out the 185hp 340 stroker from ECI Titan (http://www.eci.aero/exp/IOX340stroker.aspx). Or use the stroker retrofit on an (I)O-320 (http://www.eci.aero/exp/retrofitkits/csh340.aspx).

IMHO you really don't need the 360... I can pretty much spank any O-360 RV-4 that I've flown with, especially in climb. Seriously, I've never wanted for more engine in my -3 and am very pleased with my Aero Sport Power IO-320. Even though the 360 is only 10-15 lbs heavier that is actually a lot of weight on an RV-3.
