firewall forward kit for 6A and vertical induction fuel injection

Well Known Member
I am about ready to order Van's firewall forward kit, for a 6A, constant speed, fuel injected 180 hp IO-360 clone. Fuel injection will be vertical induction, probably Airflow, unless someone has a good reason to go Precision, because I already have the scooped cowl in hand. I'm in Canada, so under our regs I will have to install a gascolator. I have the Andair fuel selector.
Van's says the closest firewall forward kit is the one for the carbureted 0-360 (the fuel injected kit is designed for the horizontal induction cowl). Van's says they can't say what deletions/modifications/additions I would need for this installation. Surely a vertical induction Airflow install is not an unusual one (although if it is I may have to rethink what I'm proposing)? Anyone have any experience with such an installation and can offer any help as to what deletions/modifications/additions from Van's firewall forward kit I would need for this?

RV7A vertical induction mods

Bill,

I had similar problem with my RV7A. Se my mail from Van's below.
After engine installation I found out that I ordered to short mixture/throttle cables anyway! Just got my new order fom Van's with right length for my application:
CT BLK THROTTLE 47.5
CT RED VMIXTURE 50.5
This is if You use the FW-hole specs for IO-360.
I didn't need a fuel line from pump to servo, as it was included with my engine.

"We have not installed this engine so we don't know exactly what any
changes necessary may be. Our fwf closest to the engine you've got
is the FF 7A O-360 FP, assuming you will use a FP prop. Most of it
should work OK, but you need to swap the VA-149 for the VA-182
bracket, and I'd guess you'll delete the gascolator. You may well
want a slightly longer mixture cable as the arm on the FI servo is
further away. There's a possibility that the fuel line from the pump to
the servo needs to be longer also. See attached list, you can modify
it as necessary.

Hope this could be to any help.
