Bullhead City/Laughlin New Years Day Flyout 2008

New Years day, RVers from AZ and CA are flying into Laughlin, Nevada (KIFP)
at 1800 zulu (10am local time in Laughlin) for the "Windows on the River Buffet" at the Aquarius Casino and Resort.
http://www.aquariuscasinoresort.com/
It used to be called the Flamingo Casino. It has a large seating area
and was serving breakfast and lunch at the buffet. The Aquarius
resort also has a shuttle that we filled to the brim a couple of
times)that will pick you up at the airport.

The 18:00 zulu arrival should put us at the casino before 11am local
time and hopefully avoid the noon rush at the buffets.
Heres a picture of Mercedes and Katie hanging out with the Rocket dudes from last year.

Everyone is invited. The more the merrier. Weather is looking good.

Actually when there are pretty girls willing to set on guys laps, its amazing how many people you can get into a RV-10:D

Minor confusion

What time zone is Laughlin in? I was looking at weather and wunderground showed Laughlin-Bullhead as MST, which is Zulu-7. I am going to try and make it but just to clarify is Laughlin local time MST or PST?

Hi Bryan,

We decided to use the 18:00 zulu arrival time because it can be a little confusing.
Bullhead City, on the east side of the river, is on MST.
Laughlin, on the west side of the river, is on PST.
So the 1800 zulu arrival time is 11am MST at KIFP airport, but across the bridge at the Aquarius casino it will be 10am PST.
Does that make sense or did I just confuse things more?
The latest weather is showing the winds now around 12 kts from the NNE for tomorrow so that is a lot better than the 20 plus kts originally forecast.
Weather was great today and looks great tomorrow.
See you there!
If you arrive early or later, the numbers for the shuttle are
1-800-662-5825
1-702-298-5111
and asked to be transferred to the shuttle service.

Thanks

I understand, just didn't want to arrive an hour late. I was concerned about the winds as well. When I checked it was blowing at 30MPH at Laughlin. It is breezy here as well (Fullerton, KFUL)

Great turnout!

We had a very respectable turnout for the RV flyout to Laughlin (NV) with members from Arizona, SoCAL and NorCAL areas joining us for Brunch. Tuppergal and I had a smooth ride out of Rosamond at 7500' (15 knot headwind) arriving to Laughlin with 30 knot winds straight down runway 34. Bill Souza arranged for the Tropicana Hotel van to pick us all up and take us to a different casino (thanks Bill!). We all enjoyed a nice meal with tables lined up for 10 people, each side ;-)
After eating, most all headed back to the airport but Tuppergal & I played 'Craps' for about 20 minutes and turned $40 into $120 ;-) In that time, the van was back for the second load to the airport. I flew back with Mike & Gary then continued home at Hector VOR. We had another nice ride home at 8500' and a 15 knot tailwind (with calm winds at Rosamond).

It was great seeing you all there, and I wish the entire VAF list a very safe and Happy New Year!!!! Rosie

Great organization & followup

I'm sure that this will grow if you keep it up. That's not necessarily a good thing but when I lived out there we once had 52 people fly everything from a Cessna 150 to a 340 to Death Valley to visit the Furnace Creek Inn for an overnighter and brunch. Everyone had a great time. It sounds like you have a good core group to sustain the fly-in activity. I envy you.
