My son just called from Fort Worth and mentioned that the news was covering an airplane accident near Hicks. Anyone know what is happening?

Teen pilot uninjured in emergency landing near Hicks Airfield

A 19-year-old student pilot was uninjured when his plane flipped during an emergency landing Thursday afternoon in a field north of Hicks Airfield in Fort Worth.

The pilot, who was not identified, declined medical attention at the scene of the 2:30 p.m. accident, said Lt. Kent Worley of the Fort Worth Fire Department.

The Cessna 152 apparently had engine trouble during its approach to the airport, Lt. Worley said. The nose of the plane stuck in the ground during the landing, flipping the plane over, he said.

?That soft dirt made him get stuck,? Lt. Worley said.

The student took off from Hicks Airfield earlier in the day and flew toward Bridgeport before returning, Lt. Worley said.

Yikes! I was in the air at that time not 5 miles to the east - was monitoring 121.5 on standbye. Didn't hear any mayday (probably didn't have time - students fly around 2,500' or less around here to stay under the class B).

Glad he's OK.

Hicks Accident

It was a foreign student flying solo in a 152 owned by Pro Aircraft.
From the photos on Channel 5 news at 5 it looked like he took out the nosegear & prop when he put her on her back.
According to them there was no serious injury.
