Testing Comm Without Nav Ant Installed?

Is there any reason to not power up the SL30 Nav/Comm without the Nav Antenna installed? I couldn't find anything in the manual about it. I would like to check the Comm radio but the Nav antenna is in my wing tip, which is still in my barn 10 miles away. (Don't have that much co-ax).

It's OK

No problem since the NAV portion does not transmit....

However, if you are near a VOR, why not add a length of cheap co-ax to the NAV connector and just strip about 24 inches of the shield off at the end? You might be able to check out your CDI this way...

PS the no antenna problem is an overload of the Comm transmit power devices... not applicable to Nav..
