Hi All,
I'm wondering if it is ok to alumiprep AND alodine the tank ribs.
I know NOT to prime them, but wondering if would be overkill to alodine them.
Appeciate any info,

Alodine is OK

Jim... alodine would not be overkill.

While most builders probably don't alodine the inside of their tanks, the ProSeal (used generically) material is actually designed to be used over alodine by the Mil-Spec.

If you check out the PRC 890 data sheet....

http://buyat.ppg.com/REP_aerospace_files/Sealants/890b.pdf

An alclad adhesion is specified, but is slightly less than that on an alodined surface...

But for the PRC 1750 data sheet

http://secure.silmid.com/external/commerce/1/productfiles/PR1750A.pdf

...no spec. exists for alclad....

I would say it helps a little, and certainly can't do any harm....

If in the future the acft ends up using a fuel with alcohol the alodine will help save the tanks.
