Paul Dye Shuttle talk in northern VA

Well Known Member
Paul plans to be in the D.C. area for Labor Day weekend and will stay over to speak to EAA Chapter #1099 meeting near Fredericksburg, VA. This will be (more-or-less) the same talk he gave last spring to Mel's Dallas-area chapter meeting and it's a "can't miss" for any aviation enthusiast. The venue is at Dogwood Airpark which has lights for night operations. I?m pretty sure we can arrange ground transport from Shannon (EZF) for those wanting a more ?formal? field. If anyone is willing to post an 8.5x11 flier at your home field in the area or you need directions to the site, just send me your address (hose "at" drkarst.net). Hope to see lots of the D.C. area folks there (and bring the kids!).

Here?s more information about the talk:

Program will be presented by Paul Dye.

Paul Dye is a Lead Flight Director for NASA's Manned Space Program who has been involved with the Space Shuttle since the first flight. He will be talking about the Space Shuttle as the highest and fastest flying aircraft ever built. His talk will focus on the questions that pilots most frequently ask - how it flies, what the controls and displays are like, and what the flight profile is like. He will share some of the experiences he has had in his 25 year career as part of the Shuttle operations team, including the excitement of participating in many of the vehicle great "firsts". Paul plans to fly his beautiful RV-8, "Valkyrie" up from Houston.
