Wing tip chrome painting.

I would like to paint the part of the wing tip under the light lens to look like a chrome part. The rest of the plane is painted white, but I have not painted the tips or wheel/leg fairing and am getting ready to do that.

I am using PPG paint and will be shooting K36 on the wing tip.
A couple of question:
Is there a simple rattle can chrome paint that would work over K36?
If not what primer and paint can I use in this area?

Use foil

Hi Kent,

We used chrome foil (from Avery I guess), gives a very good result.
Just check your local sign maker to get about 2 square feet.
I'll post a picture on our site.

I used rattle can "chrome" paint from AutoZone on the backplate.

Here's another thought. Use a Chrome Vinyl Graphic decal to fit in that area. My brother who made the VAF decals has the material.
www.vinylgraphicsbygreg.com You can get 3 different shades of chrome decal, brushed, smooth, or plain chrome. You can cut it to fit your area and it will reflect light better than paint. Just a thought if your interested.
