Govenor Gasket Lube

Jim P

Well Known Member
Hopefully a simple question, but can I use Fuel Lube instead of engine oil on the gasket for the MT Governor?

Thanks,

Jim

I personally have not found fuel lube to be very good at stopping oil leaks. Oddly enough, oil seems to work better for gaskets and fuel lube better for fuel fittings. Maybe just my own experiences as I know nothing about the actual chemicals in fuel lube.

You actually don't need any type of sealant on the governor drive gasket unless the surface is scarred or not flat. But if you do use sealant, Loctite 515 is an excellent sealer. Dab it on lightly with an acid brush or the like, look for brush hairs and assemble. No problem
