Power Requirements for Lowrance 2000c

Can somebody tell me what the current draw is for a Lowrance 2000c running off ship's power? Also, does anybody know the same thing for an Ipod?? Thanks.

Steve, I don't know the exact answer for the 2000C, but if you total up the mah capacity of the four AA cells and calculate how long the unit should run on one set of batteries, I'm quite sure you will find the current draw to be well under one amp. Probably even less for the Ipod.

If you know how to measure current, checking out this by yourself shouldn't be too complicated. As said in my references, with normal batteries (which should be used only for backup in device like this) they will last only couple of hours. However as normal alkaline batteries are designed for much lower currents, the capacity of the battery ain't tell whole truth. As normal capasity for a alkaline would be around 2000 - 2500 mAh and if it run out in two hours, that would indicate that the current for the L2000C would be ~1A. However as alkaline batteries are not best suitable for usage like this (designed for much lower current draw) and if L2000C don't get hot when used (ie. bad design), I would say that the current consumption should be closer to 0.5A in real life...

Let's assume you have 5th generation iPod which plays music 14 hours with 400 mAh battery. That would indicate current draw being around 0.03 A.
