OAT Sensor Extension

Does anyone know if the GRT OAT probe wire can be extended using standard aircraft wire? I know this is bad for thermocouples, but I think this might be a different kind of sensor.

It works fine for me Pete. I just ran regular aircraft wire down from the panel to the wing root, and then hooked the sensor up at that point. Temps match AWOS temps all the time.

If they are like BMA OAT sensors...

They have three wires, 5V, GND and return value.
You can add as much wire as needed.

Mine only had 2 wires

I ran one to ground and the other to the monitor, but it confirms that the wires can be extended. Now how to plug the hole in the NACA duct?

Duct Tape....just kidding

Its a Termistor

I had the same question and checked with GRT - their probe is a thermistor, so just 2 wires (no polarity) and they can be extended with regular wire.
