Sunday in North Texas

Last Sunday (Nov 19) was one of those rare days in Texas. The temps were in the 60s, the sky clear, the wind less than 5 kts. Great for flying and visiting nearby airports.

While fueling at Gainesville ($2.74/gal for AvFuel) I saw a nicely done RV-8 parked on the ramp. Belongs to Michael Clark I believe. Couldn't resist taking a photo of old vs. new as a nicely maintained Boeing PT-17 taxied by.

The PT-17 is SN 75-4007 built in 1942. I met the owner Tom(?) Richards at the fuel pump. He's been flying PT-17s for 50 years. I always liked bi-planes. Maybe Van can design one for his next project -- an RV-88?

For Doug's nose art collection I submit the following from the RV-8:

And here's one, though not an RV (a YAK actually) was nicely done:

Duckzilla!!! Hmmm, Maybe there's a "Dougzilla" in the works for that shark mouth paint scheme we're all waiting to see.

Enjoy.
