Yesterday, flew over to Vero Beach to tour the Piper Aircraft factory. They give the tours a couple of times a day, Monday through Thursday. We parked in front of the restaurant, (free parking if you park at the restaurant) had breakfast, and short-walked to the factory. Piper is building 3-4 airplanes a week, only to firm orders. Currently, they build the Archer, Arrow, Seminole, Seneca, Matrix, Mirage, and Meridian. When we were there, there were samples of each aircraft on the line.
Piper's owners have invested in some nice tools, but most of the work is still done by hand. From what I saw, the working staff were turning out some very nice looking work.
The tour takes a couple of hours, max. Be sure to call and schedule your visit.
