NC Aerobatic Contest

Let's see some RVs representin' in IAC! Chapter 19 will host our fall contest this year at Foothills Regional (MRN) in Morganton, NC Oct. 18-19. Would be great to see an RV there. Ron Schreck (RV-8) went home with a Sportsman trophy at our spring contest last year. For anyone who may not be ready for solo competition flights, Johnny White http://aviatorsunlimited.us/ will be there with an S-2 Pitts available for dual rental. For any of you with very basic (and I do mean very basic) aerobatic experience and wanting a challenge, you could likely learn to fly a passable Primary Sequence in 2-3 flights and compete just for fun. That's how I got into contest flying. The Primary Category is designed for beginner acro pilots and consists of just a few figures. It does not require perfection, just that you be safe and have fun. Entry requirements when flying a non-owned airplane are simply your pilot's license, current medical, and IAC membership. Our contests are laid-back and a guaranteed good time for anyone with real aerobatic interest. Or show up in your RV and fly the (RV-capable) Primary or Sportsman categories, even if you cheat the negative lines a little. Anyone interested, let me know. These are the 2013 sequences for those unfamiliar:

Give it a try

Eric is correct, a contest is a hoot. I just finished the first contest in my -7 no inverted oil and no inverted fuel it went just fine( if you don't mind a little oil on the belly) every one was pumped to see someone in a RV compete. Headed to Lamar this weekend to do it again. Get some basic training and have some fun.
(I think this is going to cut into my beer money:p)
Fly safe have fun

Keystone, FL IAC contest

On the same dates, 18-19 Oct, there is a contest at Keystone, FL (42J), which is near Gainesville, FL. I plan to be there and will use a Sportsman freestyle that Eric approved (he's a IAC judge too) that includes an inverted spin. Would also like to see a few RVers that are interested there too whether they compete or not.

Sounds like fun! Been looking for something like this in NC. I'll plan on bringing the -6 and see if my partner is up for the contest while I take a little instruction.
