I will use this section to talk about a few items that I'm doing long term reviews on. It will have *something* to do with aviation...yet it could be as diverse as a tent or survival gear that you would take on a flying/camping trip. The reviews won't be long-winded, just short comments when data points present themselves.
Feel free to start your own reviews of RV-related stuff in the 'Reviews' section of the VAF Forums. dr

- Tail-Mate
I received mine just after the LOE fly-in. A few weeks ago I blew my back out picking up the back of the plane. While in bed resting and surfing the web I found www.Tail-Mate.com. I've now used it out at the hanger and am very pleased. The construction is good and it takes minimal effort to jack the plane up. I lowered it down on a sawhorse just in case, and for my peace of mind.
For those still building their tailwheel planes, it's much easier to change the oil with the plane in this attitude. It's also much easier to wipe down the belly.
To use you simply position the unit directly behind the tailwheel, then push the plane from the front until the tailwheel travels over onto where it is supposed to stay. Re-chock the front wheels. That's it. Start turning, and around 20 turns later it's done.
I'm sure this will be a hit with the RV crowd at our airport.
This unit sells for $199.

- December 2004: Still going strong. I love this thing when it's time to wipe down the belly.
